GW Crashing Consistently (Update?)
Hey all,
I've had GW crash on me a few times over the last couple of weeks, total system crash, but no reboot. Thought it was due to having Firefox, VLC Player in the background at the time. However, today it's happening consistently, and getting worse throughout the day. I'm not a computer novice by any means, but there's no system errors or app errors being reported anywhere of any kind in my system, so I've no idea what's going on. Anyone else having GW crashes recently? Related to an update? It's gotten progressively worse today alone. I'd say it was the latest Firefox update, but I just tested and crashed immediately w/o FF running in the background, or anything else. System is completely solid and stable otherwise, running the following: Gigabyte UD-5 X58 (mobo) i7 950 (3.0GHz) 6GB DDR3 Corsair Dominator GTX 480 (GPU, 197.41 drivers) HX850 Corsair (PSU) Win 7 64-bit Cannot seem to resolve the issue, and my system is fine otherwise. Any info appreciated. Edit: Actually, I've found the following errors, though not sure what they mean regarding this: Event ID: 3002 The performance counter explain text string value in the registry is not formatted correctly. The malformed string is . The first DWORD in the Data section contains the index value to the malformed string while the second and third DWORDs in the Data section contain the last valid index values. Event ID: 3011 Unloading the performance counter strings for service WmiApRpl (WmiApRpl) failed. The first DWORD in the Data section contains the error code. Event ID: 3012 The performance strings in the Performance registry value is corrupted when process Performance extension counter provider. The BaseIndex value from the Performance registry is the first DWORD in the Data section, LastCounter value is the second DWORD in the Data section, and LastHelp value is the third DWORD in the Data section. I dont know where you live, but here its getting hotter every day outside ( and inside ) so heat could be a issue. Have you opened your computer and cleaned out the dust recently ? Use compressed air to get rid of the dirt from heatsinks and fans.

I'm pretty sure that is not the problem he is having. Just going off his specs/hardware alone I am sure it's safe to assume he has an enthusiast's tower with plenty of fans to vent his system.

Probably just your internet connection. If you're using wifi (and its a desktop PC) then try moving the PC to another side of the desk, or just move the whole desk. The position of the furnature can affect your connectivity (happened to me first few weeks of buying my own PC and I had to re-arrange my room a bit).
